Although Architecture Plus carried out the architectural planning for this project, S&T were engaged as part of the wider consultant team to deliver a range of critical building services including:

• Plumbing and hydraulic design
• Mechanical engineering
• Fire engineering
• Building performance consulting

Our work supported the delivery of a modern, sustainable library featuring:

• Energy-efficient underfloor heating, powered by a reverse-cycle heat pump system that also pre-heats incoming fresh air for improved ventilation.
• A VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) air conditioning system ensuring consistent indoor comfort across all spaces.
• Tailored mechanical ventilation solutions designed to suit varied space types and occupancy levels, including a Makerspace, Community Café, and flexible Multi-Purpose Meeting Rooms.

This project presented the unique challenge of integrating new services into an existing building fabric. Working alongside Alexander Construction and mechanical contractor Air Dynamics, our design team provided solutions that balanced performance, spatial constraints, and energy efficiency.
